Aibek Smadiyarov Appointed as Presidential Press Secretary

By decree of the Head of State, Ruslan Sultanuly Zheldibay has been relieved of his post as Assistant to the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan – Press Secretary to the President. This was announced by Akorda.

In a concurrent move, by order of the Head of State, Aibek Serikbayuly Smadiyarov has been appointed as Advisor to the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan – Press Secretary to the President. He has been relieved of his previous position to take on this new role.

Prior to this appointment, Smadiyarov served as the Head of the Internal Policy Department of the Administration of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, a position he had held since December 15 of last year.

Smadiyarov has an extensive background in public communications. On December 6, he stepped down from his role as the Official Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), a position he originally took in 2018. A year later, he became the Deputy Chairman of the International Information Committee, and from June 2023, he served as the Director of the MFA's Communications Department.
These personnel changes were implemented by decision of the President to restructure the administrative team.
