A resident of Semey, Abai Region, has been sentenced to seven years in prison for promoting terrorism through social media platforms. This was reported by supervisory authorities with reference to court documents.

The court established that between July 2024 and April 2025, the man created anonymous accounts on the TikTok platform to distribute materials of a terrorist nature. In his posts and private messages, he justified violence and supported radical ideology.

According to the Prosecutor's Office, the distributed content was related to the ideology of the Islamic State (ISIS), an organization banned in the territory of Kazakhstan.

The court found the man guilty under the article for promoting terrorism and sentenced him to a seven-year prison term.

In light of this case, representatives of the Prosecutor's Office issued an appeal to citizens, warning that the distribution, reposting, and possession of terrorist or extremist content entail criminal liability. The authorities urged citizens to report any such instances to law enforcement agencies immediately.
