The system for providing free medicines in Kazakhstan will completely transition to a new format. Patients will no longer receive medications based on a general list; instead, only the specific drugs prescribed individually by their doctor will be allocated. This was announced by the Vice Minister of Healthcare, Timur Muratov.

According to official data, 3.4 million citizens in the country currently receive free medications funded by the state. However, analysis shows that patients do not always take all the medicines provided to them. To resolve this issue, the ministry plans to introduce a personalized application system for each individual.

The core areas of the new system include:

Personalized Approach to Treatment: Medications will be selected individually, taking into account each patient's height, weight, and specific physiological characteristics.

Digital Control: Doctors' prescriptions and the distribution of medicines will be monitored through a specialized electronic platform.

Systematic Supply: Preparatory work will be completed this year, and starting from 2027, patients will be able to receive the exact medicines they need continuously throughout the year.

Additionally, Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov ordered the phased deregulation of medicine prices. The process of lifting price controls on medicines costing up to 1 MCI (4,325 tenge) must be completed by June 1, while for medicines priced above 1 MCI, it must be finalized by December 1.
