$300 Million Seaport Planned in Aktau

The new port aims to boost transit potential and create jobs in the Mangystau region.

Plans are underway to build a new seaport in the Mangystau region as part of Kazakhstan’s efforts to develop transport infrastructure and strengthen transit capabilities.The project was announced by regional akim Nurdaulet Kilybay at a government meeting, Qrnews.kz reports.

The strategic partner is the Chinese company group Zhongyun International, with investments estimated at $300 million. The investor has registered a company locally and is preparing documents for the investment agreement.

“The project will form a new international transport corridor: China – Kazakhstan – Aktau – Baku – Poti – Europe. It will reduce cargo delivery times by 7–15 days, lower transport costs by 18–25%, and create new jobs,” said Kilybay.
