New QR Payment Option Launched for Almaty Bus Passengers

A new way to pay for public transport fares has emerged in Almaty. Passengers can now pay via QR codes using one of the country’s most popular banking apps, according to a statement from the city’s Transport Holding.

It is worth noting that an attempt to introduce this payment method was previously made in 2021. However, the plan was put on hold due to challenges regarding platform integration and accurate passenger flow accounting.

Now, residents of Almaty can pay for their trips through the Kaspi app by either scanning the QR code inside the bus or manually entering the vehicle code. Meanwhile, traditional payment methods—including transport cards, mobile apps, and other existing options—will remain fully operational.
